Here’s a little painting tip on testing whether the surface you are painting will be suitable. Doing an adhesion test is an important part of the painting preparation process prior to starting your painting.
The easiest way to do the adhesion test is to cut through the surface to be painted in a crosshatch pattern then apply some masking tape over the area and pull off. If the paint comes away with the tape then you know that the surface isn’t sound for painting and additional preparation may be required prior to painting.
These great ideas come from “Aussie Painters Network” which has some great information for preparation, lead based paint, colour choices etc.
